Microlearning for Macro Impacts

Everybody signs up for online courses, but only a few complete them. Solution? Relevant and practical content that lets users "stay the course".

With an approach like microlearning, we can break down complex topics into bite-sized, engaging modules, making it easier to retain information and fit learning into busy schedules.

Learning to use AI tools can also help remove psychological roadblocks, encourage experimentation, and help learners implement their learnings on the job. This boosts engagement and motivation, ultimately improving completion rates.

Let's embrace eLearning to revolutionize learning, making it efficient, enjoyable, and future-ready!

Let's Talk!

How this work runs

1. Define the brief and learning requirements

The work starts with a brief that sets out what you need the training content to cover, who the learners are, and what the learning is expected to address. The team also reviews the required format, such as written modules, videos, voice-overs, interactive modules, infographics, or assessments. If the brief does not provide enough information about the audience, subject, learning requirements, or delivery format, those points are clarified before development begins.

2. Plan the learning structure

The team then breaks the subject into a structure that learners can work through in focused sections. Where appropriate, complex topics can be divided into smaller microlearning modules, with each module addressing a specific learning objective. The structure is also planned around the intended learning context, including the learner's role, skill level, and the practical use of the subject. Content may be sent back for clarification when a learning objective is too broad, topics overlap, or the source material does not provide enough information to build the planned sections.

3. Develop the content

Writers and subject matter experts work through the approved structure to develop the learning material. The content is written around the subject and the needs of the learners, with practical examples where the brief calls for them. Assessments such as quizzes, graded questions, leaderboards, or other interactive elements can be built into the learning experience. Existing material, including presentations and videos, can also be repurposed into smaller learning modules when that is part of the requirement. Drafts are sent back when the content needs more source information, a concept requires clarification, or the material does not fit the agreed learning structure.

4. Review for subject and learning quality

The content then goes through review and refinement. Subject matter input is used to check whether the material represents the topic accurately and can be applied to relevant real-world situations. A quality control review checks the content for consistency, clarity, completeness, and alignment with the agreed requirements. Assessments and activities are also checked against the material they are intended to reinforce. Content is revised when there are factual or structural issues, unclear explanations, gaps in coverage, or activities that do not match the learning content.

5. Check the format and LMS requirements

Once the content is approved, the team checks that the material is prepared in the required format and can align with the Learning Management System, where LMS integration is part of the assignment. Multimedia and interactive elements are checked against the approved content so that the final learning experience remains consistent with the planned structure. Items may be returned for correction if text, visuals, activities, or other elements do not match the approved content or required format.

6. Final review and delivery

A final quality check is completed before delivery. The team reviews the completed learning content against the brief, approved structure, subject requirements, assessments, and format requirements. Any remaining corrections are addressed before the final files or content are handed over. The completed material is then delivered in the agreed format for use in the intended learning environment.

Learn with Microlearning

Microlearning breaks complex topics into bite-sized modules that improve focus and retention. Learners absorb key concepts more effectively in short sessions, leading to higher knowledge retention and better long-term performance.

Microlearning fits into busy schedules through short, focused learning bursts that can be completed during breaks or on the go. This flexibility allows learners to access training whenever and wherever it is convenient.

Microlearning modules can be tailored to specific learning objectives, skill levels, job roles, or areas of interest. Targeted content ensures that every training session is relevant and directly applicable to the learner's needs.

Microlearning promotes immediate application by focusing on single learning objectives that can be put into practice right away. This bridges the gap between theory and daily work, helping learners see tangible results from their training.

Microlearning scales easily across organizations of any size because of its modular structure. New modules can be added as training needs evolve, and existing materials like presentations and videos can be repurposed into microlearning format.
